The maintenance demands and current over-usage of our grass fields stretch the Recreation and Board of Education budgets and work force beyond their limits.
Grass field conditions are often unsafe and contribute to preventable injuries.
Even light rain forces the closure of the most frequently used Roxbury fields; they were closed many times last year which caused canceled practices & games.
Roxbury one of the few communities of its size and resources in the state of New Jersey without a synthetic multi-purpose turf field. There are over 165 completed in New Jersey some of the local towns are Randolph , Mt. Olive , Morris Catholic, Mountain Lakes and Dover .
High School and Recreation Sports must delay the start of their spring season for weeks due to weather conditions. They then must compete for gym space and time or go out and rent expensive time slots at commercial facilities.
